Parish Health Ministry

The Parish Health Ministry Team seeks to minister to the physical, mental and spiritual health of Columbia's congregation and surrounding community. Offerings include free periodic blood pressure screening, blood drive, health education seminars, and end of life issues support.

Women Walking Wednesdays

Wednesday  Evening: Women Walking Wednesdays - Room 209 (the library), Falls Church Campus . Shrink physically/Grow spiritually.  Rain or shine this 2-part group will walk from 6:00 - 6:25pm and have bible study from 6:30 - 7:30pm.  Participate in one or both parts of the group. Columbia Travelers

This group stays on the road, offering trips monthly September through June. Outings include local day trip experiences as well as out-of-town, overnight excursions. Travel team leaders are Betty Bates email and Donna Ricks email.

Columbia Travelers Upcoming Trips:

  • Culpeper Cultural and Culinary Tour, May 15.  We leave at 9 a.m. sharp; first stop – Museum tour.  Then, lunch in Old Town Culpeper is on your own (not included in the fee).  After lunch there is some time for shopping in the quaint shops; we will meet at 3:15 sharp to return to church.  Cost: $30 for transportation and the museum fee.  Make your reservation no later than April 23 by visiting or calling the Information Desk at Falls Church (703 534-5700).  Payment is required to secure your reservation. 
    * Culpeper offers a historic panorama where everything from Victorian mansions to Civil War memorabilia is preserved.  The  Museum offers a large variety of state-of-the-art exhibits on Culpeper’s rich Civil War history, display of dinosaur tracks discovered locally,  American Indian artifacts and more. 

  • Newseum, June 12. We leave at 9:30 a.m. sharp and return at approximately 4:00pm. Lunch is on your own (not included in the fee) at the Food Court or The Source (a Wolfgang Puck restaurant). Cost: $20 for transportation and Newseum entrance fee. Make your reservation no later than May 14 by visiting or calling the Information Desk at Falls Church (703 534-5700). Payment is required to secure your reservation. The Newseum offers visitors an experience that blends five centuries of news history with up-to-the-second technology and hand-on exhibits. The Newseum features a 74-foot-high marble engraving of the First Amendment and an immense front wall of glass. There are seven levels of galleries, theaters, and retail spaces.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a 13-week grief recovery ministry that is offered periodically at Columbia. It is part seminar, part support group; Christ-centered and biblically based. Anyone who desires to participate is welcome. GriefShare can help begin the healing process that is needed following the loss of someone close. DivorceCare

DivorceCare, a recovery ministry for separated and divorced persons, is offered periodically at Columbia. The sessions are DVD-based presentations featuring some of the foremost Christian experts on divorce recovery topics from a biblical perspective. Topics include reconciliation, remarriage, forgiveness, and the effects of divorce on children. Each participant receives a workbook for taking notes which also includes a plan for daily Bible study.
